Many surprising announcements regarding betas were released this this afternoon.
Most surprising announcement came from Turbine, the once dead Asheron’s Call 2 is being re-released as a beta. In 2002 Asheron’s Call 2 was released and floundered until 2005. Turbine announced the opening of Dawnsong for Asheron’s Call 2. Dawnsong will be open current subscribers of Asheron’s Call only and will be a beta server. Turbine provided a link to the old download client but did not provide a hint as to when non-subscribers will have access to the beta.
Darkfall Unholy War has experienced several hiccups of late with Aventurine, the publisher, delaying the restart of the game at the last moment. 14 December 2012 will see the beginning of pre-orders of the game. $14.95 for previous owners of Darkfall or $29.95 for new purchases. Purchasing the game will guarantee access to the beta once the beta client is ready for release.
Ragnorok Online 2 is moving to open beta to 27 December 2012. Age of Wushu is moving to a closed beta hybrid model starting 20 December 2012 due to popular demand. The hybrid will allow all testers to try the game for ten hours of game play, after the first ten hours testers who have not purchased the deluxe digital edition will be limited to one hour of game play a day.
Otherland, the cyber punk MMO, enters round two of beta testing starting 14 December – 17 December 2012. Unfortunately, testing is limited to gamers currently admitted to the closed beta.
